(New Moon) to follow (Twilight)

(New Moon)

Vampire mania looks set to live on, thanks to the upcoming adaptation of "New Moon", the follow-on to the hugely popular current film "Twilight".

The author of the adapted novels, Stephenie Meyer, says that she is very happy with the success of the first film and the experience of collaborating with Summit Entertainment, and is looking forward to returning to work on bringing Edward and Bella's adventures to the big screen.

"Twilight" looks likely to make another woman happy too ˆ director Katherine Hardwicke might just have helmed the highest-grossing female-directed film, and the most profitable vampire film, of all time.

If it brings in another 60 million dollars this weekend, "Twilight" will hit the 150-million-dollar mark, which will give the green light to further adaptations from Meyer's four-part fantasy series.
