Manga mania!
Laeta Kalogridis is quickly climbing up through Hollywood's ranks. After writing "Shutter Island", the upcoming film by Martin Scorsese starring Leonardo DiCaprio, the scriptwriter wants to turn the manga "Ghost in the Shell" into a live-action film.
Kalogridis announced the state of play during an interview with ShockTillYouDrop.com: "I'm writing "Ghost in the Shell" for DreamWorks for Steven Spielberg. DreamWorks had the material and I have loved it for years and years and years."
Considered a classic by fans of Japanese animated film, Mamoru Oshii's "Ghost in the Shell" was itself an adaptation of the manga comics by Masamune Shirow. The film's central character, a cyborg named Motoko Kusanagi, will therefore get a third treatment. However, for this new adaptation, the sexy heroine will take a human form.
