(The Game Plan): The Rock avoids typecasting

(The Game Plan)

American football star Joe Kingman couldn't be happier with his VIP bachelor lifestyle, but the sudden discovery that he has an 8-year old daughter brings him crashing down to earth.

With his new responsibility, he finds himself hopping between cocktails and fairy tales, football training sessions and ballet dancing lessons.

Following in the footsteps of Vin Diesel, who proved to be game for a laugh in "The Pacifier", The Rock leaps into the supernanny-on-steroids niche with "The Game Plan", a comedy in which he takes on a little rascal in need of a father's love.

The ex-wrestling star bravely plays against type in this film. However, with his oversized muscles and undersized talent for comedy he struggles to fit into the role, while the story falls down for lack of originality.

Ditto the bonus features, which consist of deleted scenes, clangers and a mini-game.
